The Process

Contemporary Custom Homes provides an in-depth, custom home building experience. We focus on your likes, wants and needs and work to achieve them. We are will assist you throughout the entire development process. Think of us as your property developer; a facilitator. 

Contact CCH to help find your perfect, dream location. We have our favorite local realtor, Kevin Blue with, that will bring you in-depth market informative to make an informative purchase. You will want to consider the property's covenants, building restrictions, slope, excavation, accessibility for material deliveries, solar, etc. There are areas throughout Archuleta County that require all sorts of different options when building. We can help with that!


Do you already have a floor plan? If not, no problem. We can create your dream floor plan. We love to go to a prospective customer's property and develop a one of a kind floor plan that lets nature inspire the build. We will also help you with unique design features and stunning finishes. These ideas will help us establish a rough budget for you. We will then take our ideas and floor plan to work with a local architect to produce a 3D rendering and blueprints for the permitting and construction phases.

Line-up financing. It’s never to early to get pre-approved for your project. We can help and will work with local banks if needed.

The proposal process can now begin. It is a tedious process working with all contractors and fixture companies. Depending on the complexity of your project, this process can require several draft proposals before an agreement is reached. The goal of the proposal is for both parties to have clarification and finalize all aspects of the home for pricing. We will meet again to go over the final plans and some key items to also limit having change orders during the construction phase. Our goal is to make sure we are on the same page as our clients at all times.

Contemporary Custom Homes offers a cost-plus format with a fixed fee. This means that unlike other contracts, we only charge a single fee for your home build. We will not profit extra if the build exceeds original estimates. We arrange a unique property developing experience. We provide quality and personalized workmanship on a timeline that conveys how important our clients are to us.

Once the proposal is agreed upon the next step is signing the “Construction Agreement.” This document incorporates the proposal as well as other construction documents such as plans, and is the formal agreement governing our relationship during the building process. Once the Construction Agreement is signed, we will establish a proposed starting date for the project and require a non-refundable deposit.

Now the exciting construction phase can begin! During this time, we will visit our preferred vendor locations to make final selections on materials such as cabinetry, countertops, hardware, etc. We will work together to pick colors and finishes for the interior of your home. We will also help handpick appliances that cater to your lifestyle.

Once the house is complete and the Certificate of Occupancy is obtained, we will have a final walk-through. We will establish a punch list for any final changes and have a final disbursement of funds. Now you have a new custom, contemporary home here in beautiful Pagosa Springs! After we conclude our business, we hope that you will share your awesome experiences with friends and family!
